Benefits
Fellows receive stipends ($12-$13 per hour) for half-time work (20 hours per week) in important community organizations during the semesters they are taking classes. The university provides Fellows with partial (usually 2/3) tuition scholarships.
Description
Fellows work in community and economic development organizations in the Pittsburgh area that match Fellows' interests, professional aspirations and experience with the needs of the community organizations. Fellows have primary responsibility to find their own community placements with the coordinator's guidance and support. Fellows have worked with over 35 organizations whose missions include employment, environmental policy, housing, international relief, neighborhood development, regional economic development, social services. Project tasks have included: program development, proposal writing, and management of housing, business development, and environmental programs.
