Description
The University of South Florida offers a Master's of Science (MS) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Engineering Science-Environmental Engineering. Students interested in a doctoral degree should contact the program director.
The degree requires two semesters of course work totaling 24 semester units of academic study prior to Peace Corps service and a 6 credit research thesis (tobe completed during service). To prepare for their Peace Corps assignment, students take 9 credits of coursework in appropriate sustainable technology, global public health, and applied anthropology.
Students also have 15 credits of electives for their particular area of interest (i.e., environmental, green engineering/sustainability, water resources, transportation planning, structural, materials, geotechnical). A Graduate Certificate in 'Water, Health, and Sustainability' can be easily worked into your degree.
Requirements
GRE score is required. Non-engineering degree applicants are welcome. An ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in engineering is required for the MS Civil Engineering and MS Environmental Engineering. The Master of Science (MS) in Engineering Science-Environmental Engineering does not require a first degree in engineering.
Non-engineering degree applicants seeking the MS Civil and Environmental Engineering degrees typically require several semesters of "make-up" course work in order to meet engineering accreditation requirements.
