Peace Corps’ Popularity Remains Strong

Today’s Spokesman-Review front page highlights Peace Corps’ record application levels and points to President Obama's call to service and the significant benefits that Peace Corps provides like graduate school assistance, leadership skills and global experience as possible reasons for the increase in interest.

The article quotes Melanie Forthun, Peace Corps Public Affairs Specialist in Seattle and former Peace Corps volunteer, who says Peace Corps is “ . . . definitely one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done; it’s also one of the most wonderful. I feel like my life would be empty without my Peace Corps experience.”
