Contracts

The Office of Acquisition and Contract Management (OACM) administers the Peace Corps' work through contracts and interagency agreements, both domestic and overseas. OACM administers short term contracts for a variety of temporary positions occasionally requested by Peace Corps overseas posts. If you are interested in short-term training positions as a United States Personal Service Contractor (US PSC), remember that most Peace Corps field offices hire staff locally. In the event a post is unable to identify qualified local personnel, a US PSC is contracted to fill the temporary position.

USPSC Positions

US PSCs serve overseas and are compensated with a daily rate based on the candidate's relevant salary history and work experience in conjunction with the established compensation range for the position. Additionally, insurance, immunizations, travel, and a small per diem are usually provided. Should your skills match those required for an upcoming consultancy, you will be contacted to verify your availability for and interest in the position. Selecting candidates for a contract can take from three months to six months.

All contractors with Peace Corps must have a DUNS number and be registered with the Central Contractor's Registry (go to www.ccr.gov ).

Non-Medical Contracts

The most frequent non-medical contracting need is for training personnel to assist with Pre-Service Training events (PST). PSTs are held one to two times a year at most posts and require the contracting of training personnel, such as PST director, technical trainers and coordinators. Technical trainers are often needed in specialized disciplines, such as agriculture, health, small enterprise development, TEFL instruction, education, and community, gender or youth development.

Other short term contractors occasionally needed include temporary-duty administrative staff, program evaluators, and instructors for workshops and in-service training.

Medical Contracts

Both short-term and long-term Peace Corps Medical Contractors (PCMC) are needed at Peace Corps posts. Short-term PCMCs (TDY PCMC) must be current or former PCMCs, due to the need for them to fill in temporarily when a post is without a PCMC, leaving no time for training on Peace Corps policies and procedures. Long-term medical contractors are not required to have any prior Peace Corps experience.
