Sustainable Development Panel: The Peace Corps Model

Long Beach

10/8/2009

Find out what grassroots, sustainable development looks like on the ground, in four different countries!

Long Beach has a unique opportunity to hear from country directors representing four Peace Corps countries in Latin America, the Pacific Islands and the Caribbean. They are in Los Angeles for a short time attending a conference before returning to their respective countries and Long Beach gets to hear from them on their afternoon "off." The country director is responsible for managing and directing all aspects of the Peace Corps program in their country, and therefore have first-hand experience implementing sustainable projects.

Whether you're interested in becoming a Peace Corps volunteer or working in development in another capacity this panel will prove to be very interesting and informative. We will explore some of the challenges unique to an international setting and also strategies and best practices for success in implementing projects that are truly sustainable.
