Have Rainbow, Will Travel: The LGBT Experience in the Peace Corps

Online

6/20/2009

Please join us on Saturday, June 20th from 11am to 12pm (PST) for Have Rainbow, Will Travel: The LGBT Experience in the Peace Corps." This webinar offers a glimpse into what it's like for Peace Corps Volunteers struggling to adapt to overseas cultures that are often less than tolerant of their sexual identities.

Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Kate Kuykendall will moderate the discussion and share her own experience in China. She will be joined by special guest Jeffrey Janis, who served in Ukraine from 2004 to 2006. You can read more about Jeffrey's story here.

We'll learn how volunteers balance their desire to be "true" to themselves with the need to be respectful of the host country and culture -- not to mention successful Peace Corps Volunteers. Whether you're interested in the role of sexual minorities abroad, culturally sensitive travel tips for LGBT people, or just curious about how individuals adapt to a radically different set of values, this webinar is sure to be informative.
