Benefits

Graduates are prepared for a wide variety of professional careers—as policy analysts, project managers, and environmental specialists for government, research committees, public interest groups, conservation councils, law firms, industry, media, and green marketing. Others may accept positions as program officers in foundations and corporations; environmental educators or researchers in schools, libraries and museums; public advocates; and consultants. Students are awarded a 10 credit tuition fellowship for Peace Corps service. In addition to the 10 transcript credits applied upon completion of PC service, students complete a 2 credit master's thesis proposal with long distance faculty guidance and approval.

Students successfully completing the program requirements will receive the M.S. degree in Environmental Policy.

Requirements

Candidates for admission to the Graduate Program of the Bard Center for Environmental Policy must have a bachelor’s degree, completed application, maximum 600 word statement linking a contemporary issue or problem to your career aspirations in the field of environmental policy, writing samples (for example, academic paper, report, grant proposal), curriculum vitae, $50 application fee, three letters of recommendation, official transcript(s) of all undergraduate work and graduate courses (official copies and certified translation for foreign students), Graduate Record Examination scores (required for applicants who graduated from college after 2001; optional, though recommended, for others) Undergraduate work should include at least one semester of college algebra, statistics, or microeconomics. Applicants should have successfully completed one college semester of chemistry and at least one additional semester of chemistry, biology, physics, or earth science.
