Description
Students may pursue a Master's of Public Health degree. The program is aimed at preparing students to better address health problems shared by both developing and developed countries.
Today's health challenges demand professionals who are well versed in multiple public health disciplines. Students will complete initial coursework to learn the basic knowledge and skills needed to work in an international or resource-poor setting. They will chose a specialty, either epidemiology, environmental health sciences, health behavior or maternal and child health, in which to concentrate for the remainder of their studies. MI students enter the program in the fall term, and complete didactic coursework before leaving for the Peace Corps (PC). PC service satisfies the program's field experience (3 credit hours); students will also write a project paper while overseas or after their service ends.
All students in the School of Public Health must be enrolled during the term in which they are graduating, but are not required to return to campus. MI students are invited to join the Birmingham chapter of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers for fun and fellowship.
Requirements
GRE or equivalent test scores. Both the score and the percentile on each of the sections will be evaluated.
