First Place
Ciara Johnson
Peace Corps Guinea, 2007-2009
Women Fishing on the Niger
Women in Tiguibery, Guinea, fish with their children in tow. After catching the tiny fish, the women gracefully placed their catch in the calabash bowls balanced on their heads. The dry season on the Niger River also allows locals to do their laundry on beaches, as they use the hot sand to dry their clothes. Volunteer Ciara Johnson took a break from washing the laundry with her host sisters to snap this photograph.
Second Place

Elle Chang
Peace Corps Indonesia, 2011-2013
Motivational Speaker
Students at an Islamic boarding school in East Java, Indonesia, await a motivational speech by Volunteer Elle Chang. Usually unaware of the full details of an event until she arrived, Chang learned to embrace the ambiguity of such situations.
Third Place
Chris De Bruyn
Peace Corps Mongolia, 2007-2009
Picnic Song
Waiting for freshly slaughtered sheep to boil, some community friends enjoy drinks and music in the Darkhan–uul Aimag countryside of Mongolia.
